Day #59 & Last Day of Bed Rest: Early Morning Rumblings

So I went to bed late (for a pregnant woman that is) and thought I would sleep till at least 4:30am, but, alas, I was awake at 2:45am. Of course it was because I had to make a trip to the restroom but after that - nothing - except hunger pains. That's what has me on the computer now. I needed some light in the bedroom to eat my cheese and crackers with.

I'm not necessarily nervous about today, mostly I'm nervous about Thursday. That's the BIG day. The day our lives will change forever. The day I will become a wife and mother. The day I become responsible for more than myself. The day I will fulfill God's command to "be fruitful and multiple."

All of that rest heavy on my head but my heart is leaping for joy. I have always wanted to have children but just never knew it would take such a long and winding path to get to this point. God has been good to me and blessed me. I thank Him daily for these two precious gifts growing inside of me and ask for wisdom when they are growing out in the "real" world. Words cannot express my gratitude, only tears seem to suffice.

Day #57 of Bed Rest

Only three more days till my precious baby boys are here. My parents and in-laws are both coming in tomorrow and I can't wait to see my momma! I hope to have some belly pictures to post before heading off to the hospital.

I've been driving myself crazy checking and double checking that I have everything needed to take to the hospital. Right now the only thing we don't have ready are the car seats. My husband is waiting for my mom to get here and help him.

I can't even imagine how different our lives are going to be this time next week...but it's an adventure that I always knew I wanted to take with my husband. We may be overwhelmed at times but know that God doesn't give us more than we can handle.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Day #55 of Bed Rest

Only five more days till our family doubles in size! I thought this day would never come or that I would ever make it to March 31st - it seems to be a long time coming.

We are now official minivan owners!! Others may cringe when I say the words "minivan" but when you consider how much stuff we're going to have with two infants and the gas mileage, it only makes sense to purchase a minivan. Bobby is out right now picking up a few items to make the van "baby ready". All we have to do now is install the car seats - which will happen when my mom makes it to Texas the beginning of next week.

On a side note, thanks to my many, many, many hours watching TV I have started creating a list of foods I want to try and cook once I'm able to do so. Not to say I was some massive chief before, but not being able to even boil water has made me want to cook even more. I'm sure Bobby won't complain.

To celebrate our last Saturday night as a two-person family, we're going to watch some episodes of Julia Child on DVD. For Christmas, Bobby surprised me with a DVD set of her "How to Cook Like a French Chief" cooking series. He wants me to learn how to cook Beef Bourguignon - I'll let you know how that turns out.

I am so excited for the boys to get here and to start my new life as a mommy. My prayer is that God grants me the wisdom to raise them according to His will, and faith to keep going even when things seem tough.

Day #45 of Bed Rest

It seems like only yesterday I was newly pregnant and thinking April 16 was very, very far away. Well now here I am 45 days on bed rest and only 2 weeks away from Baby Day - March 31st @ noon. It's a lot closer than my original c/s date of April 7th and I'm very excited about that. Not so much that I'm ready to regain my swim suit model body as I am to hold my baby boys.

We have been in a rush preparing the last minute items to ensure that everything is ready when the big day arrives. The last major prep work we have is to have the car seats installed and hopefully that will be taken care of on Friday. Speaking of...I need to call and set up my appointment.

Right now I am ripping my favorite songs from my Christian, Jazz, Easy Listening, and Nap Time CDs to create some music for the boys.

As of today Jack weighs 5 lbs. 7 oz. while Tedder weighs 5 lbs. 5 oz. and I have gained 2 lbs. since last weeks check up.

Day #37 of Bed Rest

The best news about today is that I'm typing this from the comfort of my own bed. That's right, I broke out of the hospital March 2nd and haven't looked back! I did have to go back yesterday for my weekly monitoring but that was okay. It's always fun to hear the boys heartbeats and crazy sounds they make while moving around.

As of today I am 34 weeks and 2 days. Yesterday my ob said that 37 weeks is long enough and to have a date ready for her next week when I come back. But of course the specialist said she wanted me to make it to 38 weeks - and the nurses just laughed at that. I go next Tuesday to see the specialist and she may or may not change her mind.

Keep a co-worker of mine in your prayers as her and her husband go through a rough patch. Also remember a cousin of mine that is preparing to go to Madagascar for three years to work as a missionary with her husband and beautiful 3 month old daughter.

Day 23

I'm still in the hospital on bed rest but I have been taken off the IV. Now I'm taking oral medication to prevent contractions. The babies are doing well Baby A, Jack, weighs 3 lbs. and 10 oz. while Baby B, Tedder, weighs 3 lbs. and 12 oz. They both have good heart beats and move around constantly. Since I have reached the 32 week mark, they could be here any day now.

Day 18

Eighteen days down and hopefully only 3 more days to go. I will be 32 weeks on Sunday and the doctors plan on switching me from the magnesium sulfate delivered via IV to a pill form. On Monday I'll have another sonogram and if everything looks good - I may get to go home on Monday!!!! Everyone I know is praying for such an outcome.

It will be so much easier on my body and my husband if I am at home. There's nothing quite like lying in your own bed, not being hooked up to an IV and having people constantly waking you up at night to check your blood pressure. We have a fridge and microwave to move upstairs into the bedroom and some food to stock up on - that way I don't have to go up and down the stairs to get food.

My parents came to town last week and helped get our house ready for the boys. They cleaned the carpets, swept & mopped the floors, cleaned the bathrooms, put the baby bedding together, and cooked food for my poor fast-food eating husband. I'm so blessed to have such willing parents to spend their vacation time taking care of us.

Our car seats have come in, as well as a box of diapers ordered from Amazon Mom. We should be getting the boys back packs/diaper bags and Christmas stockings in the mail. We decided to go with a back pack instead of a normal diaper bag because of the amount of stuff needed when we do travel out. Jack has a lime green bag and Tedder will have a royal blue bag. We'll alternate between the two.
