28 weeks and counting

The babies are 28 weeks 1 day old in my belly. They are movers and shakers the past few weeks and my husband is still amazed at the movements. He'll put his hand on my belly, feel a few kicks, and then ask "Did you feel that?" It's so cute.

Yesterday was a big baby buying day. We have had some issues with purchasing our baby furniture from JC Penney's and finally had to cancel that order. We stumbled across a gigantic Babies R Us store down the interstate from us...they had such cute clothes. Bobby and I picked out a bed room suit and glider for the boys room. We especially enjoyed trying out the gliders. It took a lot longer than needed but I'm glad to finally be able to take that off my To Do list.

Next we traveled to Hobby Lobby and found some vinyl wall posters that I hope will go well in their room. Bobby purchased an antique looking world map to put up in the room and had to spray paint the cheap ugly frame bought at wal-mart. There is no real "theme" for the nursery - mostly shapes, patterns, and colors....and I guess with the map and posters it has something to do with traveling the world, accomplishing great things, etc.

Bobby and I made another big decision this past week with the agreement to hire a maid for the next week months. I'm too big to do much if any house work and Bobby is too busy with school and getting the babies room ready to clean. I plan on calling her Monday morning and set up a day that she can come and clean every 2 weeks. I'm excited to have a clean house without hurting myself or the babies.

26 Weeks Down

Today I am 26 weeks pregnant and feeling every single pound these babies weigh, which is nearly 2 pounds by now. The doctor said that I could stop working whenever I felt like it because she wants me to take it easy till the babies get here. I assured her that I'm taking it easy at work and will let her know when I want to leave work and begin "nesting".

In the mean time, I have ordered baby furniture and bedding, and can't wait to have everything set up in the room. My sister is creating a canvas for us to put on the hospital door with the boys info. We choose Psalm 136:1 as our birth announcement verse: "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever." Everything will be in the same colors and design as our bedding.

We were blessed to have a baby shower while in Mississippi for Christmas and thanks to our wonderful family and Oak Grove family, we have a slight dent in diapers and wipes. Not to mention some super cute baby clothes and toys. A really sweet lady from Oak Grove made the boys two crocheted blankets - one white and the other baby blue. I can't wait to wrap the boys up in them.

2010 has been an awesome year but I can't wait to see what God has in store for us in 2011.

Day One of Christmas Vacation

Christmas Vacation Day One

1. Took car to shop at 7am.
   
2. Last minute grocery shopping at Walmart - I seem to be drawn towards cereal.
3. Wrapped Christmas presents.
4. Packed my suitcase for our trip to LA and MS.
5. Took a nap.
6. Watched most of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
7. Had a pudding cup snack break with my husband.
8. Washed and dried a load of laundry.
   
9. Filed some papers.
10. Split up the Davis presents and the Carr presents, and prepared them for travel.
11. Cooked spaghetti for supper - yum.
12. Took a shower.
    
13. Picked up the car from the shop.
14. Made out with my husband.
15. Ordered a jacket from LL Bean.
16. Finished off a box of cheesy crackers.
17. Wrote in my babies journal.
    

Since my husband has been in the living room ALL day studying for his A+ Certification test, I have not been able to watch TV or play the xbox :( But tomorrow, he'll be gone all day and I plan on dominating the world via Risk for many hours.

More Changes

I am now 22 weeks pregnant with the boys - that's right - two boys.

Baby A will be Benjamin "Jack" - Benjamin after my husbands grandfather and father and my grandfather, and we both just like the name Jack although I do have a great Uncle Jack. Baby B will be William "Tedder" - William after my grandfather and Bobby just likes the name William and Tedder is my grandmother's maiden name. And even though she has three brothers, the Tedder name will end.

That's where the story gets funny...my Uncle I mentioned earlier - his name is Jack Tedder. My Meridian family thinks it's funny and I would like to think Uncle Jack is excited to have his name continue on with two little boys.

Bobby and I are both extremely excited to have two healthy baby boys on the way! They both weigh 13 ounces, are about the length of a table spoon, and have good, strong heartbeats. They enjoy jumping and hopping around during my ultrasound visits. And currently they form a 7 in my stomach with Jack having his feet at Tedder's head. Bobby was able to attend the doctor's appointment when we found out the sex of the babies and saw just how active they are. He now realizes why I am so incredibly tired and hungry all the time - they are sucking every bit of energy out of me.

I'm doing well and am starting to take advantage of sitting with my feet up more often...it really does make me feel better. Sleep has become the difficult aspect of each day due to the many, many, many bathroom visits I make throughout the night. Needless to say, I make up for it by napping whenever possible. The doctor has already advised me to begin cutting back on my hours at work...I chuckled a little inside at this...did she forget I am a teacher? I will be cutting back on after-school related activities and my students will see me sitting down and rolling around in class more often. Overall, I am taking it a lot easier now than before.

As Christmas approaches, I have a new joy for what this season of hope brings. God has blessed the Davis family beyond imagination this year and are overwhelmed by His goodness and grace. Enjoy this Christmas season with family and friends, share the word of God's amazing gift and the joy we have as a result of that gift, and finally, find a way to help someone who needs it.

One checkup down, another to go

Check up at the "at-risk" doctor went well, albeit, I was there for 3 hours. They checked the babies heart and blood flow, veins to the kidneys, stomach size, head size, spine length, overall size and weight. Currently they both weigh 6 ozs. which is a little above average for 16 going on 17 weeks, but is a good sign because twins have a tendency to not grow later on in the pregnancy.

This week my husband and I travel to the general ob for another checkup and to find out the sex of the babies! We are extremely excite but will be containing our news for family and friends until we make it back to my hometown in Mississippi on Nov. 20th. My mom isn't too happy but I want all my family to be together when we tell them. Everyone is hoping for a boy and a girl. My "mother" instincts tell me one of each or two girls....we only have a few more days to wait and see.

On another note, I always experiment with new foods over the weekend in case it causes me to have another gallbladder attack. Yesterday afternoon I had a hamburger happy meal! I squeezed the fries in lots of napkins and took the onions off. I woke up this morning very excited to discover I never got sick!!!

Getting easier...

Eating has become a little bit easier with the discovery of foods that I can actually eat. New items on my list: Spaghetti O's, angel food cake, vegetable egg rolls (after wrapping in paper towels to absorb grease), veggie dip, and brownies. All of which can only be eaten in moderation.

I head to the at risk baby doctor on Thursday for some more test and to measure the growth of the babies. They'll start recording my sonograms so by the end of the pregnancy we will have a record of their growth.

Check Up

So we went for a check up with the at-risk baby doctor and everything is looking good. They are growing, and show no signs of physical birth defects.

I am also growing and in need of new stretchy pants and one of those fancy belts that helps to hold up your stomach. I may only be 13 weeks along but I have twice as much fluid, baby, and weight gain as a woman with a singleton.
