Ahhhhh people....why the hassle?

Is it so wrong of me to not enjoy sending my babies out the door every morning at 6am and seeing them again until 5 or 6pm.  Sure, some people like not having that much responsibility or can do so much with all that free time.  Not me.  When I get home I want to spend what time there is left in the day with my children.  You can't raise Godly children if you never see your children.

Now our plans have to change.  We can't move into the house we want.  We can't save as much money as we want.  We won't be able to buy a house.  I know these are all things we want and we're not even asking God if it's what He wants for us.

That's the first person I should of asked.  But it, to me, I have other burdens on my heart that I've been bringing to the Lord and this one was not one of them.  That burden still rest heavy on my heart and this latest episode only makes me question my decision even more.

How easy it would be to pack up and leave next week.  I could quit my job, clean out my room, pack the boys and be gone by Friday.  Everything would be so much easier at home, and yes, I still call MS home. Texas will never be home - only a detour on my road.

Pray for me and my family.  We need guidance.  We need reminding that everything is going to work out in God's own time. 

Back to Work We Go

This is my last Saturday as a free woman - free in the sense that I don't have to grade papers, plan lessons, complain about the craziness of school, or dread the coming Monday.  For now, I'm looking forward to waking up Monday morning and heading off to school.  My only prayer is that my children will decide to sleep as long as possible Monday so Mommy and Daddy have time to get ready for work.

Their Grannie is coming to stay with them this week so that should make things much easier on us and them.  It was really hard seeing them off every morning and not holding them again till late at night.  They are much to precious to only see a few hours of the day - but at least I do have those few hours with them.


I'm wide awake at 3:42am with nothing really to do (without waking up babies) and a restless mind.  Hence the blogging.  I have discovered that it helps to empty my mind of all the random thoughts that float in and out through the day (and night).  I would like to have blogs for my students and think they would do well to have an outlet for their thoughts as well.  For now, the old fashioned "journal" will just have to do.

Some of my thoughts: I need to make baby food out of the bananas before they turn rotten; diapers and milk are in great need at the Davis house; finding a new house to live in before September 30th; packing and moving playing with the babies; reading my Bible; watching tv; cooking meals; shopping for back to school clothes; how can I make more money working from home; when can I work from home; moving from Texas; vacationing some place cool w/ a nice view of the water; hating how warm your lap gets while using your laptop; got to finish my classroom; need to buy supplies; drop off fridge in classroom; folding towels; drying towels; putting up baby clothes; why some people are just too weird for words; negative nancy's; how long to wait before having another baby; watching the movie Rango even though I heard it was crap; getting ready for Sunday; buying new clothes for the boys because they are growing out of their current clothes that are suppose to be good for another 4 weeks; planning out a baby food schedule; need ink for printer; make tea and koolaid; who was the new guy; printing out new rosters for Monday; finding something to wear for the first day of school; I mean, really Kim Kardashien, can't you give money to the poor and not worry about the money you're spending on a day that will not matter in 10 years when you're divorced; I like Twix; do they make a donut flavored ice cream; why does my cursor keep jumping around; I like sticky notes.

Almost Time.

I have only a few days left of my summer vacation and I'm not ready to leave the boys.  If I could be a stay-at-home mom I would jump at the chance.  I guess I'll just have to wait till we strike it rich.  For now, I'm content with the mornings, afternoons, and nights I have with my little guys.  It is such fun to watch them grow and discover new things and I am blessed that I was chosen to be their mom.

Our newest adventure has been in eating.  The boys have started eating oatmeal for breakfast and rice or barley with a vegetable for supper.  So far we have tried bananas, apples, squash, green beans, peas, carrots, and sweet potatoes for tonight.  In three days they'll try avocado for supper and four days after that they'll start having a fruit with their cereal for breakfast.

Soon we'll be leaving the townhouse and while I will miss my huge master bedroom and bath, I will not miss the tiny living room, walking up and down stairs, and having funky nasty carpet.  Pray that we'll find a house that's clean, bug free, in our price range and close to the in-laws.

A first

I made my first batch of baby food today.  In the freezer I have bananas, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, and peas-n-carrots.  Aside from having to strain the peas (which was a pain in the butt) the rest was pretty easy.  I can't wait till my boys are ready to eat them.  But for their first few meals I did purchase a couple of jars of premade baby food to experiment with.

Late Night Ponderings

So my boys will be 4 months this Thursday (crazy) and will be taking a trip to the doctor's office for a check-up and shots.  They will not be to happy about this and I'm already worried how Daddy will take it - he had to work during their 2 month check-up and first round of shots.

What I've been researching is homemade baby food.  As you can imagine, two babies eat twice as much food as the average singleton which means what is kind of expensive for most parents is really expensive for us.  Case in point, for the month of June we went through 2 boxes of 274 diapers and 1 box of 92 diapers.  As well as 27 quart size bottles of pre-made formula and 4 tubs of powder formula.  With that being said, I am always looking for ways to save money which in turn makes my life less stressed although some parents would say making their own baby food is a stressor all on its own. 

I have bought my first vegetables and fruits and a really cheap food processor (Target for $6) to experiment with to see how it all works out.  For now, the boys won't be eating that much food and if needs be, I can always upgrade to fancy food processor.  I'm excited to see how everything turns out.  My biggest problem right now is finding the right freezer food storage to initially freeze my hard work.  I'm just going to have to break down and buy items to see what works best for me.  In the mean time, I will take any and all suggestions as to what worked best for you.

On a very happy high note, the boys slept for 7 hours straight last night.  Jack did wake up once because his diaper was filled to capacity.  But a quick change and rocking for 2 minutes had him snoring logs again.  Isn't it funny how you know when your child is fast asleep.  Tedder gets all "boble headed" and Jack's mouth falls open.  I can't help but smile every time I see them sleeping.  Speaking of, I need to get in there and read to them.  My cousin gave me a book about promises to pray over your children and I do just that, read the prayer over their sleeping heads each night.

A lot has changed

Since my last post A LOT of things have changed in my life.

1. I am no longer on bed rest.
2. I am the mother of beautiful twin boys - age 14 weeks 6 days.
3. I no longer have a gigantic twin pregnancy belly - now it's all giggly and in need of a work out.
4. I truly understand sleep deprivation.
5. Tickling bellies, singing, and rocking babies has become the highlight of my day.
6. Loving every time my boys smile at me.
7. I thoroughly enjoy nap time both theirs and mine.
8. Hamburger Helper is my dinner of choice most nights.
9. Impulse shopping has greatly diminished because it's hard to jump out and run into a store with two babies and one massive stroller.
10. Diapers and formula are bought in bulk. Specifically through Amazon Mom and have them shipped to the house.
